With a Blackhawk Ski Club’s portfolio boasting 19 diverse trails, ranging from easy to challenging, GASS, has significantly contributed to the club's trail network evolution.
GASS's impact at Blackhawk extends beyond trail restoration, with a focus on new trail design and construction. Over the 5-year collaboration, GASS has successfully designed and constructed a skills park featuring three difficulty levels, a dynamic pump track, and beginner to intermediate flow/jump trails enriched with engaging features. Notably, the team executed a comprehensive construction project, including the rebuild of Howling Wolf trail, Be-Happy trail, connector trails, and the transformation of the Gully Jump Line into the largest jump line trail in Wisconsin. The team ensured proper drainage solutions, particularly crucial for maintaining optimal trail conditions, especially in wet weather.
Going beyond trail construction, GASS conducted a comprehensive trail assessment at Blackhawk Ski Club. Leveraging GPS and GIS technologies, the team collected and analyzed data to determine the optimal locations for trail signage. This data-driven approach allowed GASS to present the club with a strategic plan for signage placement, enhancing trail navigation and overall user experience.
