La Jolla MTB Park is an exciting project that was undertaken by Global Action Sports Solutions to design and construct a mountain bike park facility at the La Jolla Indian Campground. The project involved collaboration with the local government agencies and utilized GIS software and on-site assessments to create a well-designed trail system.
Building trails at La Jolla was a remarkable endeavor, as the mountain presented unique challenges. However, the project turned out to be a perfect fit. The soil conditions consistently yielded excellent dirt, and the natural rock formations complemented the trail construction perfectly. The primary focus of the trail design was to cater to downhill riding. To enhance the riders' experience, La Jolla Indian Campground offers shuttle services, allowing bikers to maximize their time on the trails.
GASS successfully constructed approximately eight miles of trails, with the significant difference in elevation, spanning 1000 ft. The trails cater to riders of all skill levels, from beginners to advanced riders. Throughout the construction process, GASS prioritized environmental consciousness to ensure minimal impact on the mountain and preserve the breathtaking terrain. Native materials were utilized to construct various features along the trails, including rock drops, rock rolls, jumps, wooden drops, bridges, and more.
The vision for La Jolla MTB Park was to create a year-round open bike park, offering shuttle services to provide an exceptional riding experience. With only a few similar destinations in the United States, La Jolla MTB Park aims to become a prominent mountain biking destination and a valuable addition to the MTB and local community.
